How to connect HubSpot to Slack and ask it questions
Connect HubSpot to Slack with HubSpot's own app or an AI coworker, then ask about contacts and companies in a thread, with steps and examples.

You can connect HubSpot to Slack in two ways. HubSpot’s own Slack app, installed from the HubSpot Marketplace, adds search commands, notifications and Breeze Assistant, which answers when you mention it. An AI coworker that you add to Slack connects to HubSpot next to your other tools and answers contact and company questions in the thread.
What are the two ways to connect HubSpot to Slack?
You can install HubSpot’s own Slack app, or add an AI coworker to Slack and connect HubSpot to it. Both let your team ask about contacts and companies without opening HubSpot. They differ in what they cover and in what else they connect to.
HubSpot’s Connect HubSpot and Slack article lists what the app does. You can manage HubSpot records, receive notifications and share HubSpot data with your team in Slack. It is available with all HubSpot products and plans.
An AI coworker takes a different route. You add it to Slack, connect HubSpot from its dashboard and talk to it in plain English. The table compares the two.
| HubSpot’s Slack app | An AI coworker | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you install it | HubSpot Marketplace | Add it to Slack, then connect HubSpot in its dashboard |
| How you ask | Slash commands, or mention Breeze Assistant | Message it in plain English or mention it in a thread |
| What it works with in HubSpot | Contacts, companies, deals, tickets, tasks and notes, plus notifications | Contacts and companies, and a note after you approve it |
| Other tools | HubSpot only | Other tools your team connects, such as Xero and Deputy |
The HubSpot column comes from HubSpot’s help articles and the app’s listing in the Slack Marketplace, read on 29 October 2026. Check them again before you plan around a feature.
How do you install HubSpot’s Slack app?
You install it from the HubSpot Marketplace, and the person doing it needs the right roles in both tools. HubSpot says you must be a Super Admin or have App Marketplace permissions in your HubSpot account. You must also be an administrator for the Slack workspace.
- In HubSpot, click the Marketplace icon and choose HubSpot Marketplace.
- Search for Slack and select it.
- Click Install.
- HubSpot sends you to Slack. Review what the app asks for and click Allow.
- Slack sends you back to HubSpot, and an email from Slack confirms the connection.
Only one Slack workspace can be connected to HubSpot through this integration.
To remove the app later, go to Settings, then Integrations, then Connected Apps, choose Slack, click Uninstall, then type the confirmation text and click Uninstall again. HubSpot’s steps are in the same help article, last updated on 20 August 2026.
How do you ask HubSpot a question in Slack?
Inside HubSpot’s app, use a slash command for a quick lookup, or mention Breeze Assistant and ask in plain language.
The HubSpot listing in the Slack Marketplace names two commands that matter here. Type /hs-search-contact to look up a contact and /hs-search-company to look up a company. The listing also covers notifications for reminders, mentions, form submissions and more.
Breeze Assistant is HubSpot’s AI in Slack. HubSpot says it can search, summarise, create and update records, including contacts, companies, deals and tickets. HubSpot’s article Use Breeze Assistant in Slack, last updated on 19 October 2026, lists what you need first.
- Connect the Slack app.
- Log in to Slack with your HubSpot user.
- Turn on Breeze Assistant in your HubSpot account.
To ask a question, type @HubSpot(Breeze) followed by your request in a Slack channel or thread. In channels and threads, HubSpot says Breeze Assistant responds only when you mention it, and you must mention it for each request. It does not monitor channels or threads automatically.
The Slack listing adds a warning worth keeping. It says Breeze is an AI and can make mistakes, so double-check its responses. That applies to any AI answer about your customers.
HubSpot’s Manage your records in Slack article adds more. You can create a task, ticket or note from a Slack message by hovering over it and using the three dots menu. Links to contacts, companies and reports also show a preview.
What should you ask about contacts and companies?
Start with plain lookups, such as who a contact is or what a company record holds. Then move to a note after a call. Lookups are easy to check against what you already know.
| What you want | Example ask | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Find a person | “Who is the contact at Northwind?” | That it is the right person |
| List a company’s people | “Which contacts do we have at Northwind?” | The names against your own list |
| See what a record holds | “What does the Northwind company record hold?” | That the details are current |
| Add a note after a call | “Add a note to Northwind: sent the revised quote” | The note text before you approve it |
Slash commands search by name: /hs-search-contact for a person, /hs-search-company for a company. Breeze Assistant and an AI coworker both take the sentence as you would type it to a colleague.
Keep asks specific. Name the company as it appears in HubSpot, and say what you want back. If the answer looks off, open the record in HubSpot and compare.
How do you connect HubSpot to an AI coworker?
You add the coworker to Slack, then connect HubSpot from its dashboard. Here is how it works with Toby, our AI coworker. You need your own HubSpot account. The steps below follow the how-to on our HubSpot integration page.
- Add Toby to Slack and choose which channels it can see.
- Open the dashboard and choose HubSpot from the list of connections.
- Sign in on HubSpot’s own screen and approve the connection. You approve each tool connection by name.
- Ask it something, such as who the contact is at a company you know, in a channel you chose for it during setup.
You can remove a channel, disconnect HubSpot or take Toby out from the dashboard whenever you want.
Here is what the thread looks like once it is set up.
Example. The names are made up and the thread contains no real results.
> Dana (sales): @Toby who is the contact at Northwind? > > Toby: Sam Lee is the Northwind contact in HubSpot. > > Dana: @Toby add a note to Northwind: sent the revised quote. > > Toby: Here is the note for Northwind: “Sent the revised quote.” Add it in HubSpot? Approve or Reject. > > Dana: @Toby which contacts do we have at Lakeside Dental? > > Toby: I could not find a company called Lakeside Dental in HubSpot.
It reads contacts and companies, adds a note only after you press Approve, and says so when a record is not found.
Which one should you use?
If HubSpot is your only tool, start with HubSpot’s own Slack app. It covers more of HubSpot than Toby does, including tickets, tasks and notifications, and Breeze Assistant can create and update records.
An AI coworker fits when HubSpot is one of several tools. Toby is our AI coworker for Slack and Microsoft Teams. It connects to the tools a team already pays for.
You message it in plain English or mention it in a thread. It breaks the request into steps, uses the tools you connected and posts the finished result in the thread. You choose which channels it can see during setup.
In HubSpot, it reads contacts and companies and adds a note once you approve it, so the last call stays with a person. In Xero, it reads invoices and bank transactions.
